The Ghana Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC) is a pioneering business incubator and accelerator with a unique focus on supporting small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana’s ‘Green Economy’. The Centre is an institute of Ashesi University, one of Africa’s leading liberal arts universities with a mission to raise ethical, entrepreneurial leaders with the courage to transform the continent.
GCIC’s work is at the nexus of private enterprise, climate change, economic development, and ecological prosperity. We support an exceptional set of transformational businesses and entrepreneurs who are pioneering adaptive and mitigating solutions for climate change issues in Ghana. Through a competitive national search and selection process, the GCIC identifies and supports enterprises in its incubator and accelerator with a range of interventions and services, including business advisory services, technical services in the development, prototyping and testing of their innovation, climate policy advocacy and regulatory support services, market growth and access support as well as financial grants.
BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST/ DATA INSIGHTS ANALYST
Reports to: Marketing Director, GCIC
Purpose
The Data Insights Analyst will play a critical role in transforming data into actionable insights that drive storytelling and decision-making within the organization. This position involves analysing complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and clusters that can be utilized to create compelling narratives.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to communicate insights effectively.
The services of the consultant is estimated to run for seven (7) months, with a start date of 1st December 2025.
Job Responsibilities
- Analyse large datasets to identify trends, correlations, and clusters relevant to organizational goals and storytelling initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and understand the context for analysis.
- Develop and maintain data visualization dashboards that effectively communicate insights and support decision-making.
- Create comprehensive reports and presentations that distil complex data into clear, actionable insights for various stakeholders.
- Assist in refining and implementing data collection methods and processes to ensure data quality and integrity.
- Support the development of data-driven storytelling initiatives by providing data analysis and interpretation.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in data analysis and visualization techniques.
- Analyse market trends and environmental data, to make informed data driven decisions about which startups or projects to prioritize based on potential impact and viability.
- Analyse data on available grants, funding opportunities and sources, and investment trends in climate adaptation. This information can guide incubator participants in seeking financial support for their initiatives.
- By conducting research on emerging trends in climate adaptation technologies and practices, provide startups with insights into market needs and customer preferences, helping them tailor their products and services.
- Analyse data on industry stakeholders, potential collaborators, and other incubators, to identify strategic networking and partnerships that could enhance the support network for incubated businesses.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related role.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, or similar programming languages.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Google Data Studio) and reporting software.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in a specific industry (e.g., sustainability, finance, business) is a plus.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis and machine learning techniques.
- Knowledge of data governance and data management best practices.
